The Dhamma Chakra—the Wheel of Dhamma turns opposite to the wheel of life, which spins under the force of craving and ignorance.
When the Buddha discovered the Four Noble Truths suffering, its cause, its cessation, and the path he revealed a truth unknown to the world, one that reversed the entire current of worldly thought.
Setting this wheel in motion was like reversing the flow of a great river or the rotation of the earth—immensely difficult and disruptive. With the power of his ten pāramīs, the Buddha halted the wheel of suffering and set the Wheel of Liberation turning, bringing light to the darkness of ignorance.
